mid-year exam

I did badly in this year's mid-year exam. I got both low and high marks but I had deproved. I even failed some of my papers, but overall I still passed. I only failed terribly in my maths.

I knew why I had produced these kind of results.I regretted not studying a few months before but instead I studied two weeks before.I also regretted not paying attention during lessons because it was very boring and I could not help it. Now that the results show how much i have deproved, my parents would not get me a new handphone. I decided to study very hard and improve my grades. Mostly because I wanted a new handphone.

During the june holidays i decided to study hard. I photocopied the previous year's exam paper and studied my textbooks. I practiced on the previous year's exam paper.

I will show my parents improvement in my work. I reflect that with hard work comes reward. When I did not study for my mid-year exam, I got low marks and m,y parents did not give me a new handphone. So I conclude that if I work hard I will gain my reward which is my handphone.

eng aa task 2: "i can make a difference"

“I can make a difference”

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into an environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the physical systems or living organisms there. There are 3 main types of pollution called air pollution, land pollution and water pollution.

Air pollution is caused by the giving out of green house gases by factories. An example of a green house gas given out is carbon monoxide. Land pollution is mainly caused by the throwing of litters on the ground. Water pollution is caused by the spilled oil from ships. It can cause death of many marine animals and seagulls.

I feel that people should help to prevent pollution to keep our Earth healthy. If people keep polluting the Earth, it would cause green house gases and eventually lead to global warming.

To reduce air pollution, land pollution and water pollution, examples are we can stop littering, reducing amount of electricity used, using public transport instead of private vehicles, the 3rs and much more.

The 3rs can help to play our part and improve the current situation. We can reduce usage of electricity by turning off the electricity when not in use. Reducing the amount of waste can also help. We can also reuse things such as bringing your own bags to shop instead of plastic bags. Recycling things such as reusing plastic bags can help. Many more things can be done to improve the situation. This can help to reduce the amount of materials used and more natural resources will be reserved for further use.

Title: Write about an time when you lost something expensive, but gained a valuable

I still remembered the time when I lost my handphone. I had forgotten to take it with me during PE lesson. When I came back, it was gone. I felt a surge of anger and sadness. Tears started to flow down my cheeks.

It was a bright sunny day, the high sunlit clouds drifted across the clear blue sky as I was getting ready for PE. I went to the toilet to change before going down to join my classmates. I brought along my wallet but forgot to bring my handphone. As the games were starting, I could not go up and take it.

After PE lesson I went up to take my handphone. To my horror, my handphone was missing! I searched my bag and table, dropping everything on the floor, but still could not find it. I was heartbroken. I sadly walked down the stairs to the canteen. Then, I saw my friend from another class using my handphone! It had the symbol that I had put on it to identify it. I decided to approach her. When I asked her where she got the handphone, she said that I had lent it to her. Then I remembered that I had lent it to her 2days before. She wanted to play the games that were in it. I learnt to help those who are in need of what I have because I am contented with what I have now.

personal recount(30 qs)

Last month I went to China with a group of friendsfor an exchange program. We went to a school and experienced what the school life in China was like. It was different from schools in Singapore. They had school hostels where the students live in, only going home on Saturday and coming back on Monday. The food there is also a little different from Singapore food. The food at the hostel is very nice. There's even a small minimart in the school. The students study from 7.30 in the morning till 8.30 at night. Other than going to the school in China, we also went to Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. We went to the shopping centres to shop for things. Some of the things there are very interesting. The things there are also cheaper than those in Singapore. I enjoy m stay there as i get to experience how life in China is like. As the things there are also cheap, I would also like to shop there again. I would want to go back to China with my friends again.

an incident when i was caught in a storm

Thunder boomed in the distance. Suddenly the storm was above us. There was an earsplitting crack. The air filled with screams, some of them my own. It was a lightning strike! Then blackness and distant thunder.

the incident happened two years ago. As the weather report said that those few days were sunny and there were no signs of any storms, my group of friends decided to go on a cruise to relax after the end of year exams. Little did we know that our relaxing cruise will turn out to be a disaster.

That day after the storm had eased, my palms were full of sweat. I noticed that my friends faces were all pale white. Now just thinking about that incident, the loud booming of thunder and the crack of lightning, sends shivers down my spine.

confessions of a Topophobic

Shafts of sunlight flooded in from the large windows, exposing tiny particles of dust dancing in its wake. I approached the microphone gingerly. Panic surged through me. I had to force my legs to walk towards the microphone. When i finally reached the microphone, i was trembling. I stood there. I opened my mouth but nothing came out .
After a few attempts, I was mumbling. I quickly finished it off and ran off the stage in embarrassment. I took a deep breath but I was still shaking.

wad i did during the school holidays...

During the holidays, I went on an exchange program in China from 17th Nov to 28th Nov. We took an airplane and reached there at about 3.30pm. Once the exit of the airport opened, you could immediately feel the coldness in the air. It was also raining. Everyone quickly rushed into the bus. The temperature in the bus was no difference because it has an opening at the top. We had a 2 hour journey to Suzhou and checked in to a hotel. The next day we went to Pan Men gate, Light Pagoda, Main gate, No.1 Silk Factory, Humble Administrator's Garden and Suzhou Industrial Park. After going to all those places, we had a 2 hour journey to Wujiang hotel and checked in. The next 5 days we went to Wujiang Qidu Middle School for the exchange program. We joined the china pupils in their classrooms. Once a teacher comes into the classroom, the pupils become attentive and quiet. They were also very kind and helpful. Each period was 45 minutes. After each period there will be a 10 minutes break and the pupils will run out of the classrooms and just have fun and relax. Their teaching is a little different from us because they use Chinese language in all subjects including English. We also stayed in the school hostel. On Saturday and Sunday we went to West Lake, Yue Fei Mausoleum, Longjin Dragon Tea Plantation, Xixi Wetland Park and to Asian Town. We also practiced a farewell performance for the school. On Monday we went back to Wujiang Qidu School and stayed till Tuesday. On Tuesday we woke up early and rehearsed the farewell performance for 1 last time before performing. At night we went to Pearl tower which have a very beautiful scene of the city at night. On the last day of the trip we went to the science centre and watched a 4D movie. We then took a Maglev train that traveled faster then an average train to the airport and we flew back to Singapore.
